Obesity Weighs Down on Back Pain

The back, pelvis, and thighs are forced to make up for the strength of the spine that can no longer support because of the excess weight. Osteoarthritis starts to affect the spine because the obese person is not getting the proper nutrients from a balanced diet. This affects the density and strength of the muscles. The bones and muscles are at a greater risk for fracture which can leave a person disabled. The American Obesity Associated reports a person with osteoarthritis to loosing around 25-30% of their bone density.
The risks associated with obesity are not worth a life of unwanted pain. The spine functions to help people move around and keep the spinal cord safe.
